This is more to inform people more before going.

Pretty clean, expect to be searched right at the door.

All signs state that you must have an appointment to be seen. If you do not have an appointment the give two 800 numbers you can call. One is local and the other is national to make appointments.

*These two numbers are probably impossible to get someone on the line as the call volume is substantial and the automated system will just hang up on you.*

You can also probably set up an appointment early only if you set up your social security account online.

If you don't have an appointment and you are on site you still get a ticket from the machine and wait at least 2 hours for them to ask what you are making an appointment for and give you a date for that appointment. No other way.

Expect at least 2 hours on a slow day 3-4 hours on a busy day.

Employees on the other side of the glass don't look generally happy, as I'm sure they get abused from other people's struggles with the system. They are kind and give you a straight forward answer when asked a question. Which in that line of work is all you really can ask of them.

Doesn't even deserve one star. Won't let you walk in, tells you to call the number to set an appointment. Can never get through! Says you'll wait up to 15 minutes to speak with someone. That is a lie. You wait 15 minutes to get hung up on! You call the main line, and they keep you on hold for hours, or until your phone dies. Completely garbage and they are literally ruining lives with this incompetence. I also find it interesting that, when you call this number from a cell phone, it comes up as "funeral cremation care". That's a bit disturbing...

Fantastic and helpful staff. Made an appointment online for name change and was in and out within the hour. I accidentally left an important document and they held onto it for me until I realized the mistake and returned a week later.

The patronage is generally grumpy.

Communication with this organization simply could not be made to be more difficult. If you call, you are on hold for at least two hours; NO OPTION TO LEAVE YOUR NUMBER FOR A CALL BACK. I see no "Set an Appointment" option on their website. They simply put, could not be any more inefficient regarding communication.

Horrific. The ultimate representation of government failure. You must call to make an appointment and stay on hold for over an hour. I’m sitting outside the office and no one is inside yet you can’t do a walk in. My social security card was lost during a move, I start a federal job and cannot work without it. The online system to obtain a replacement has failed and will not verify my identity and I’m forced to go through this system and delay my job start date. There’s no excuse to not accept walk ins and have such a terrible system for appointments.
**update. It took 5 hours for me to get off hold and speak to a person for an appointment.
I was fortunately let inside the building by security to get the signed copy of my replacement card order since I needed it the next day for work. Inside, while people sit outside on hold for hours waiting to make an appointment, is a completely empty waiting space with a full staff. Not one customer was inside that building. Let that speak for itself

This is crazy. Filed to get replacement card online. Received confirmation and message that I had to bring DL to local office for ID confirmation. Drove 45 minutes to take care of this. Was told location no longer takes walk ins. No indication of this online! Phoned the number given to schedule an appointment- after 20 minutes on hold was transferred and disconnected. What a waste of time. Inefficient management and service.

- stars if it were possible .
Sitting in front of this lady right now as she tip taps on the computer, she is the rudest woman I have ever met. She is the one with the oxygen tank (Nancy?).
Maybe she is just hard of hearing but she started off by just yelling through the window at me about a snap ID. I was told by another government office to come here and get.
Then speaking so fast and rattling off things and each time I ask a question she goes "ugh!" Like it's an inconvenience and rattles off everything again. I've waited an hour and a half to get to this window and 12seconds in she is already 'UGHING ME'

I am a perky person and always start off friendly and try to be pleasant and welcoming because I understand dealing with customers.
But this lady....oh lawdy! Rudest woman I have ever dealt with in my 45 years of government office visits.
I guess that makes me lucky.
Good luck.

Also- YOU MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. So many people that walked in today had to leave so don't forget to go online and do that.
